Major changes occur in your body, your identity and your relationships. My hope is this class will help you move through these changes with greater confidence and deeper sense of self. Listen to your body! Honor your experience. If any of the poses feel uncomfortable or awkward let me know and we will come up with a variation. The goal of this class is to get in touch with your breath, your body and your baby. Work at your own pace and level. No two bodies are alike.
Leave your inner critic at the door and enjoy the great feeling of yoga at your own edge. Congratulate yourself for taking time for this class. Progress comes with practice. Taking care of yourself is one of the best gifts you can give your baby and loved ones.

"Yoga during pregnancy draws focus into you and your baby, away from the rest of everyday life. You not only become emotionally grounded and spiritually connected, but you develope a conscious physical awareness...enlightenment."

"So come and enjoy prenatal yoga for what it truly is... pure bliss." 2008 Prenatal Schedule Pilates and Yoga Center 1015 McCausland Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63117
Tel: 314.781.5050
www.pilatescenterstl.com
Jan.06-Feb10
Sunday 12:30-2pm
$85
Registration open as of 12/01/07

Southtown Yoga
3917 S. Since 2002, the Midwestern Region has become home to four of the 10 milk banks currently in North America.
Human milk banks exist to provide babies with breastmilk that might not be available otherwise. Breastmilk is collected from nursing moms with an abundant supply and pasteurized to eliminate potentially harmful bacteria. According to the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, the pasteurization process does not compromise the nutritional and immunologic factors that make breastmilk so healthy.
While breastmilk is the best choice for nearly every baby, for some babies it is a medical necessity. If the baby's mother cannot provide milk immediately, donor milk may be a good second choice. Donor milk is especially beneficial to babies who are ill or premature, as human milk has been shown to prevent some life threatening infections and contribute to faster discharge times and fewer complications for babies who have it instead of baby formula.
As milk banks become more popular in our region, it becomes more likely that one of your clients may turn to you for more information about how donor milk can be obtained for their sick or premature baby. The word has come to refer to "a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth." (Klaus, Kennell and Klaus, Mothering the Mother)

  What does a Doula do?
A Doula recognizes birth as a key life experience that the mother will always remember. She understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor. She will assist the woman and her partner in preparing for and carrying out their plans for the birth. A doula will facilitate communication between the laboring woman, her partner, and clinical care providers. A Doula helps the woman to identify her options during pregnancy and childbirth but does not tell her which option to choose. She helps a woman discover her own strength and her support is unconditional. A Doula knows that birth is a strong, powerful, and empowering experience and recognizes the woman does not need to be "delivered" but rather "births" her baby into the world. She is a familiar face for the woman as she stays by the side of the laboring woman throughout the entire labor providing comfort measures, emotional support, and assistance to the woman thus enabling her to make good decisions for her and her new baby. After the birth, a doula remains to help the mother and baby get acquainted allowing time for breastfeeding if desired. A Doula does not perform any medical procedures.

Why do I need a Doula?
